Vista SP1 rolls out and so do the complaints.

As some of you know Vista’s Service Pack 1 rolled out yesterday and right along with it so to did the complaints about it. Some people are saying that SP1 has made their computer unstable claiming BSODs for those who were able to install it in the first place. All this negative press is not earning Microsoft any gold stars.

With that said…

I think all this bad stuff (or at least most) is related to peoples inability to properly administrate their computer. First off I have worked on a lot of computers of people who do a down right terrible job of maintaining their computer. Between Viruses, spyware, not doing updates (not just Windows updates) saying “Oh my computer is running fine, why do I need to do any updates?”.  I am aware there is a lot of apps and devices that still don’t work properly (or at all) but I don’t know about anyone else but I am very religious about keeping my system up to date, weather it’s Windows updates, driver updates, or the apps I run.

I did install SP1 on both my Vista boxes with no problem (one Home Premium and one Ultimate) , both work just fine and I have not noticed any instability in either. I have run into more problems with updates on my Mac (Leopard).

In closing I would like to say to all the computer owners out there KEEP YOUR SYSTEM UPDATED! And stop using these el chepo devices that don’t have descent drivers…
